Gopala Narayanan
Senior Vice President, Retail Risk and Chief Operating Officer, Group Risk Management, RBC

As Senior Vice President, Retail Risk and COO for GRM, Gopala Narayanan (Gops) lead teams across Canada, the U.S., and the Caribbean, providing risk management oversight for RBC’s Personal Banking and Caribbean Banking businesses. This role is a key driver of risk management strategies that align with RBC’s business objectives and long-term growth vision. He is a member of the Group Risk Management Operating Committee, as well as the Personal Banking Operating Committee, in addition to various other committees and subsidiary boards at RBC.

Gops joined RBC in 2010. Through his tenure, he has held progressively senior roles across operations, sales and risk management including executive accountabilities within Personal Banking and Group Risk Management. Before joining RBC, Gops worked for several years at Fortune 500 companies in roles across the United States and India.

Gops has an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management in addition to a Masters in Biosciences and a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Gops is a champion for diversity and inclusion and serves as an Executive Co-Chair for the GRM Diversity and Leadership Council (DLC) in addition to being a member of RBCs Diversity Leadership Council.

Within the community, Gops serves on the board of EveryMind (formerly known as Peel Children’s Centre), one of Canada’s largest child and youth mental health agency that provides a continuum of mental health services for children, youth, and their families within the Peel district, as well as on the board of the Toronto chapter of the Risk Management Association.
